Duties: Hartfiel Automation Sales Engineering Internship Program The Sales Engineering internship program at Hartfiel Automation is designed for engineering students who are entering their Senior year. The intent of this program is to provide the student with insight and valuable experience within Hartfiel Automation, a technical distributor of fluid power and motion control components. This program will be successful if the Intern gains an understanding of how Hartfiel works as an organization and what type of roles the Intern would like to pursue in the future. In addition, success will be determined by the results of project work. Student Expectations: – Gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in Industrial Distribution. – Insight into what a future career with Hartfiel Automation would feel like. – Exposure to various technologies, applications, and industries. – Key relationships formed with A-Players in the industry. – Growth as an individual, leading to future opportunity. – Gain realistic expectations about workplace demands and rewards. Activities and Engagements: Inside Sales – Communicating with vendors or suppliers – quotes on product specifications. – Drawings using Solidworks or CAD capabilities. – Evaluating and reworking of returns. Outside Sales Engineer – Various activities surrounding Master Professional Salesperson. – Demos – Set up and programing of pneumatic and motion demonstrations. – Shadowing Outside Sales Engineers on calls. – Following up with technical support when appropriate. Other Departments – Shadow Purchasing – Value Added Product Builds. – Finance Overview. Engagement Schedule: A schedule will be created providing some direction and structure to the internship as start date approaches. Sales appointments, opportunities to provide technical support, and time spent getting to know operations will be outlined. Time for project work will also be scheduled. A mentor from our sales team will be assigned to each Intern to ensure time is optimized and we adhere to the agreed upon schedule. We understand there may be some adjustments to the schedule as other valuable opportunities become apparent. Weekly conversations with HR will be scheduled to ensure the Intern’s summer experience is going well.

 

Qualifications: Engineering background and/or technical background is preferred. In addition, a dynamic personality who is able to communicate at all levels within an organization is critical.
